Em Romance  as vozes e perspectivas plurais que fazem normalmente parte do trabalho de Lígia Soares são incluídas no texto como uma espécie de paródia à linguagem vigente num mundo ocidental do séc XXI,  estabelecendo uma relação entre performance e espectador através de um dispositivo que faz com que o público se torne a voz que espelha o performer.

Diz que me emprestas dinheiro se eu não arranjar trabalho. Diz que acreditas que depois te pago se arranjar. Diz que não me deixas a viver na rua assim vestido. Diz-me que não estamos aqui a viver a típica situação de uma pequena burguesia de esquerda a empatizar com os pobrezinhos. Diz-me que não estamos! Diz! Não Negues que estás! (in Romance)

Lígia é uma coreógrafa e dramaturga portuguesa. Começando o seu trabalho como actriz na companhia de Teatro Sensurround em 1997 criou desde 2001 mais de 20 peças da sua autoria a solo ou em colaboração. O seu trabalho tem sido apresentado nacional e internacionalmente estando presente em vários programas internacionais de dança contemporânea. Foi artista residente da TanzFabrik-Berlin de 2004 a 2006, em 2008 integra o programa internacional DanceWeb em Viena. Juntamente com Andresa Soares é directora artística da Máquina Agradável (Lisboa) através da qual produz os seus trabalhos. Através do colectivo Demimonde, criado em 2011 tem promovido vários programas nacionais e internacionais de programação e difusão artística “Celebração”, Culturgest 2012, “Demimonde na Galeria da Boavista”, 2013, “Meio-Mundo Estrada Fora”, Lisboa/Porto/Madrid/Paris, 2014.

In Romance the plural voices and perspectives that are usually part of Ligia Soares work are included in the text as a kind of parody of the current language in the Western world of the XXI century, establishing a relationship between performance and spectator through a device that takes the audience to become the voice that mirrors the performer.

Tell me you’ll lend me money if I don’t get a job. Tell me you believe I’ll pay you later. Tell me you won’t let me live on the streets dressed like this. Tell me we’re not here living the typical situation in which a small left winged bourgeoisie empathizes with the poor people. Tell me we’re not! Tell me! Don’t deny you are!

Lígia is a Portuguese choreographer and playwright working in the field of performative arts. She started her work in this field in 1997 with Companhia de Teatro Sensurround in Lisbon. Since 2001 she created more then 20 pieces a solo or in collaboration. Her work has been developed and presented both nationally and internationally. From 2004 to 2006 she was artista in residency at TanzFabrik in Berlin. She’s toke part in several programs of contemporary dance and artistic residencies in Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Danceweb, PRACTICE (UferStudios), Fabrik Potsdam, Point-Éphémère, Centre National de la Danse, Alkantara, Nomad Lab Dance Academy, Guimarães 2012 among others. She is co-director of “Máquina Agradável” (Lisbon) since 2001 and co-mentor of the program “Demimonde” since 2011.
